Hi, I have some doubts regarding CAD/CAM. I have 3 questions for u, please help me out. Below are the questions: 1) Which softwares can be used for Wood Engraving either Solid edge, solid works or corel draw? 2) Is it possible to convert JPG format to CAM software? 3)Which file format should be used for CAM software? Thanking you
I downloaded the program for SW2010 64Bit. I installed as directed and It could not import any STL files in except the \"sample\" file. The program caused SW2010 to hang and I had no alternative other than starting the task master and shutting down SW. I spent over 6 hours with this program. I wasted a lot of time trying to get this program to work. Apparently it just doesn\'t work with Windows 7 Ultra...
The software was able to provide me with a usable SolidWorks model quickly and easily. No complaints about the usability. I believe there were some minor geometric innaccuracies, but I can't testify as to whether the innaccuracies were a function of the software or just the limitations of the '.stl' file type, or maybe a combination of both. Either way, this software worked well for my purposes. Two thumbs up.
Not compatible with mastercam stl files. I attempted to use this addon repeatedly with stl files created by mastercam x2 mr2 with no results. The file would slowly be read in, but after the process was complete solidworks showed nothing but a blank workspace with no components loaded. Thank you for the free download, but my issues must be resolved elsewhere.
STL Import for SolidWorks I used the product to import an stl of a weldment with a dozen or so holes. The part was not very complex and had no curved surfaces other than the holes. The created SW file had over 15,000 surfaces and was over 30 meg. It also left some gaps around the holes. I am not very impressed. I was not able to use the part. i suggest that at a minimum the software needs to recognize adjacent coplaner surfaces and join them into one.I do appreciate the ability to download and test. thanks.
STL Import for SolidWorks Tried to convert 1.5 MB STL to SolidWorks but caused SolidWorks to crash on every occasion on a variety of PCs. Might not be a problem of STL Import but due to SolidWorks not having enough memory. However the effect is the same - cant import large STL files into Solidworks so add in proved useless.

The Software would not work on my system Windows 7 Solidworks 2010. I asked for the 64 bit version from supplier but did nto get a satisfactory solution.
Points Import for Solidworks Import function seemed to work OK, but interface is not very intuative. Also, trying to import the points into Solidworks connecting with a spline did not work after numerous attempts. What I could import was not editable, nor selectable, so made the import worthless. Also, the price of 195 Euros for the plug-in is ridiculous.
powerful little add-in Simply amazing little add-in for solid works. I was looking for a program that would let me visually represent a 3 dimensional data stream fast and easily. I found it. This program let me plot over 65,000 points in solidworks in under 5 minutes!!! Very useful for statistical research.
If there really was a 10 day trial.. I loaded the Points Import addin for solid works. It said I had a 10 day or 10 try trial, when I clicked cancle, then import again it said the same thing. So I was never able to try it. I sent a e-mail to the support and they said just click cancle and use the 10 day trial. Still doesn't work. So I still haven't used it.For the $50 the software is they should just let it work and have some message that keeps coming up every 5 minutes until you pay the $50.00. It is hard to spend money when you don't know ...
2D import This is the only software that I have found that can convert the Txt file data into Solid works. I would have hoped that I would be able to import 2D TXT files into a 2D drawing, but otherwise this is an exelent program.

Hi,Dear Sir/Mrs.Thank you for your consideration. If it is possible, please guide me about tuning OBJ export window in Pro-E and a suitable way for importing industrial parts to Maya.sincerely yoursRamin Dravish
S. O. S. For 2008. This is for solidworks 2007, not working with version 2008.
Couldn`t get it to work I can not really review this add-in to SolidWorks because, when I tried to save a file as a wavefront file, it asked for a registration key, which I was never provided with. I therefore have no idea if the software works.
Does not work After all the work, the output file was useless.
The free download version did not works. I download the free version from your web site to try out the software, when use, it require register name which do not include from download, so I can nottry it.Best Regards.Danis

I\'ve had trouble importing/converting files using the software- It is not clear where the problem is- in the conversion software or in the input file data. It also is unclear how to change default settings upon import- which might help resolve some of the issues I\'m seeing. basically the conversion attempts frequently result in SolidWorks fatal errors and automatic shutdown under Windows. I\'m continung my evaluation but it does not look too promising given the results and variable/poor outcome so far.
I tried it, it works good, but model made by importing OBJ into Solidworks does not give me what I need. It is up to the structure and nature of OBJ file not up to this software, which is very good and handy software.
Unfortunately it doesn\'t work at all.I always get the error msg \"OBJ object file does not contain meshes\"

Worked well on first try of a fairly complicated housing for a medical device. My coworker was able to import directly into 3DMAX with very few problems. The second part I tried to export failed. I tried several resolutions. Solidworks kept crashing. May be that I am using SW2011. I finally set it on lowest resolution, but the 3DMAX import was distorted and useless.
Opinion Good plug-in. Working with SW2008. Very limited trial. 10 items only were converted. I can not buy it for one use for personal home design.
Quadrilateral Mesh I think this add-in would be greatly improved if there was an option for quadrilateral meshes rather than, or in addition to, triangular...
Lack of Color and x64 edition It worked fine in exporting files to 3DS format. The parts came in one color, even when our part had multiple colors for different faces. It will be better of the resulting file preserves the colors of the original SolidWorks. It was not able to added as a Add-In into SolidWorkd x64 edition. I think it is the way how the installation is done.
high res? not high enough When the export is imported into 3d studio max at its highest resolution the result is far from a smooth result. The model wasn't to a high resolution.
Doesn`t work I tried several different SolidWorks objects and the conversion was incomplete, so I could not use the output. I gave the interface a "fair" score because it seems intuitive. If the incomplete conversion was related to settings, then I'd suggest the interface is the problem. I gave both features and price/value a score of "poor" because it didn't convert properly. If it did, I'd rate the price/value a "fair" as I believe $195 for a conversion routine is about 5x too high. It is easy to use once installed as an addin. So that got my best rating.

it doesnt work for me with sw2009
A great add on if you can't enable the mesh import feature in Solid Works.
This works pretty well but depends on the size of the files and the complexity of the model. Has problems with assemblies.
This software doesn't work: I installed it on my Solidworks 2007 version and as soon I clik on one of menu's item, an error message appears and solidwoks collapse.Do you have any comment on this situation?Regards
The import by 3DS is working very well The import is working very well
Review to 3DSImport Add in I downloaded the add-in, and make conversion of some complicated 3DS model - the result is more then bad! Some features are absent absolutely, and some surfaces is present only on the model and not in features list, many of surfaces have not valid solutions on their connections...I think that program needs some improvements with relation to its price.\Sincerely,

The download is not bad. However, the choice and range of components are quite limited. I suppose, it would take time for a more complete range of components to be published. Many thanks.W.Phua
Director of Product Development I was trying to see if your SW would work in conjunction with a Solid Works Viewer, but it either does not, or I made some error in applying the Importer.
Loaded easy enough I found the software downloaded easily and installed with ease. In the end I found another way to import what I needed that more closely fits my needs, however what I used worked.

Opinion. Installed and worked like a charm.
Solidworks - dxf - cnc laser Hi i tried your software but unfortunately the cnc laser read the dxf as a 3d dxf so would not cut the plates.RegardsMichael Woods
Automated Conversion for Sheet Metal Patterns Hello:I'm not sure this product can do this but here it goes. I need to automatically create a DXF version 1:1 scale of all SolidWorks sheet metal parts created during the work day. My hope is to search for the 'Flat-Pattern' item on the SolidWorks model Feature Tree, unsuppress it temporarily and use DXF Export program to make a DXF file that can used by our CNC Burn machines. Am willing to do some VBA programming to make this happen. Thanks.=>RJM
Get the job done. Works well, highly recommend to anyone!
Using DXF Export - One problem Maybe my fault but I could not figure out how to export and keep the same scale. In Autocad, the opened 3D solid DXF would have measurements that were way off. Did I do something wrong?
Thanks
Chris
Easy to use, great tool Easy to use, great tool, but it's expensive
